The Riders Chapter 17 As the riders emerged from the opposite side of the portal they just jumped through, they were blinded by a bright light ad fell to the ground in a big heap, groaning and carrying on. The counselors races over to them and urged them up, saying things like, "Now's no time for a nap!" "Get on your feet!" "Quit laying around!" And so on.
They all got up and looked around at their surroundings, bewildered at what they saw. They appeared to have teleported right outside of a fierce battle between a multitude of colorful dragons, and dark, shadowy creatures. They had the appearance of dragons, but with two heads and some almost looked like zombies with their skin falling off and a look of sickliness to them. They all had a shadowy mist that floated around their bodies, which sometimes formed into balls that the creatures would throw at the dragons. The battle was taking place in a large, open field, surrounded by tall, dark, jagged mountains.
The Riders Chapter 16 Life in the rider's camp was pretty easy (if easy could be described as daily training and fighting with medieval weapons and skills and having to go out into the forest to get your own food). The riders and their dragons were happy-there was peace among them, and all of the fights were from training or just play. The dragons never seemed to stop growing, and once Christmas came around they were as big, if not, bigger than the cabins. But nothing bad ever happened. This was the way the riders knew life to be, and how they thought it would always be. How they were so wrong.
The month was May, the date 13, the day Friday. Early in the morning, at around 6 o'clock-while everyone was still sleeping-there was an unusual and unexpected noise above the cabins. It was a magical sound-deep and thrumming. If the Northern Lights could be described as a sound, this was that sound. It arose the riders and their dragons, ushering them out into the center of the camp.
The Riders Chapter 15 A week after Nightshade was released, Dr. Kevosky removed Faris's casts and stitches. He had the sun dragon flex his limbs several times, then run around and use them, before declaring him completely healed. As soon as Faris was done, he and Natasha raced back to their cabin, put his riding gear on, and raced away.
"Ready to try flying again?" Natasha asked her mount, patting his neck. He snorted, then stepped back a few paces. He started by walking forward, which turned into trotting, then to a run, before taking a giant leap, thrusting his wings down as hard as he could, throttling the two into the sky. He beat them several times until they were high enough to glide on an updraft, and circled above the camp, giving an occasional flap.
Down below, their friends saw them and decided to join, jumping onto their own dragons and meeting with the two in the sky. All except for Paint. She and Alice stayed down on the ground, watching their friends s
The Riders Chapter 14 Faris and the other dragons were all hanging out in their recently established dragon lounge, just 30 meters behind the rider's mess hall. While their riders were having lunch, the dragons were all playing a game of tag in the snow.
All except for Faris. His injuries prohibited him from doing much physical activity, so he was laying on a hammock between two trees, watching everyone else.
He sighed and rested his head on his front paws, thinking about flying with his rider again. The other dragons and their riders had finally been able to fly-most of them figured it out while Faris and Natasha were in the infirmary. Hana and Jake were the best at it, no surprise there. Faris was always fascinated by Hawk's method of flying-since he had feather wings, he beat them differently than the other dragons' bat-like wings.
Rose had always acted like Faris's fan club, and ever since the accident, she had practically become his nurse. Right n
The Riders Chapter 13 Natasha groaned and opened her eyes to a bright light. Everything was blurry for a minute, but then became crystal clear as her eyes focused. She could hear voices all around her, but her ears didn't adjust quite as easily as her eyes had.
"Could you stop with the light?" She asked hoarsely to whoever was holding the light. There were some sighs of relief, then the light was gone.
Now she could see clearly what was going on-she was in the infirmary with all of her friends-Ami, Emily, Spence, Alice, Kaity, Hana, and Ty. Even Brittany was there, but she was lingering in the doorway. It had been Dr. Kevosky holding the light-he sat now by her bed, scribbling something on a pad.
Everyone crowded around her, asking various questions like, "Were you really flying?" "Was it fun?" "Did it hurt when you fell?" "How did you fly?" "Why were you in the blizzard?" And so on.
She blinked at them, feeling sort of fuzzy, then said s
The Riders Chapter 12 The riders' time at camp was now half over. November saw the trees wearing white, as well as maturity for many of the dragons-they were now considered teenagers. Back at home, the riders would have been in school, but there was no school here. So as well as learning dragon riding and weapon-using skills, the counselors had to teach them math, science, history, etc.
Natasha and Faris were trudging through the snow while hunting one day. She was no longer wearing the girls' required clothing of a skin-tight magenta jumpsuit and long black boots (the boys wore the exact same clothing only their jumpsuits were light blue). She had on a fur coat that was made out of rabbit pelts-she caught them herself. She also had on fur pants and she had stuffed her boots with fur. She was holding a spear that had a red gem the exact same color as Faris's scales on the bottom, and the top had an exact replica of Faris's tail spade-on a smaller scale. The pole was made of slate
